4th Anniversary of the Spiritual Bond of Affinity
Papal Basilica of Sta. Maria Maggiore in Rome
On June 6, 2025, the National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Mercy joyfully commemorated the Fourth Anniversary of the Declaration of Spiritual Affinity with the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome.
The faithful gathered in thanksgiving for this sacred bond, which was first solemnly proclaimed on June 6, 2021 during a Eucharistic Celebration led by Archbishop Charles Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines.
Through this spiritual partnership, plenary indulgences are granted on special Marian feast days and during group devotions at the Shrine, deepening our connection with the liturgical celebrations of the Basilica in Rome.
We thank the Lord and Our Blessed Mother for this grace-filled spiritual bond and for the countless blessings we continue to receive through her intercession.
