On the night of August 1, 1218, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Peter Nolasco, urging him to establish a religious order dedicated to the redemption of Christian captives in Spain. With the help of King James I of Aragon and St. Raymond of Peรฑafort, the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy (Mercedarians) was founded โ a community committed to freeing those enslaved for their faith, even offering themselves in exchange when needed.ย The Mercedarians honor Mary, Our Lady of Mercy, as their spiritual foundress and as a symbol of hope and redemption, united with the saving work of Christ.

In commemoration of the 806th Anniversary, the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Mercy held a Solemn Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Bishop Roberto Gaa of Novaliches, followed by the Novaliches Marian Procession. The grand procession featured the pontifically crowned image of Our Lady of Mercy, along with patrons of the daughter parishes and various Marian images from parishes, groups, and individuals โ a beautiful display of faith and devotion to our Blessed Mother.
